Shell Sweater - English

Construction:
The sweater is knitted from the top down. First, stitches for the neckline are cast on and worked in twisted rib. Stitch-markers are then placed to indicate where raglan-increases are to be made on the yoke. Short rows are worked to shape the yoke, before working in the round. When the yoke is finished, the sleeve-stitches are put to rest, while the body is worked in the round. The body is finished with a twisted rib and Italian cast-off. The sleeves are worked straight down in the shell-lace pattern until a few rounds before the ribbing, where decreases are made to create the balloon-effect. The sleeves are finished with a twisted rib edge and Italian cast-off.

Sizes: 
The sweater can be knitted in 6 different sizes, XS (S-M) L (XL-2XL) 3XL (4XL), corresponding to a circumference of the sweater of 89 (100) 111 (122) 133 (144) cm. Before you choose which size to knit, we recommend that you measure your circumference at the widest area. If a more slim fit is preferred, we recommend a positive ease of approx. 7 cm. If a more relaxed/oversized look it preferred, we recommend a positive ease of approx. 15 cm.

Gauge:
18 stitches x 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm in the shell-lace.

Needles:
4 mm and 3.5 mm circular needles with 40 and 80/100 cm wire, 3 mm circular needles with 40 cm wire.

Yarn suggestion:
1 strand Mayflower London Merino Fine (50 g = 175 m) with 1 strand Mayflower Super Kid Silk (25 g = 195 m)
or 1 strand Drops Alpaca (50 g = 165 m) with 1 strand Drops Kid-Silk (25 g = 210 m)

Amounts:
250-300 (300) 300-350 (350) 350-400 (400-450) 500 g merino/alpaca.
100-125 (125) 125-150 (150) 150 (150-200) 200 g silk mohair.
